Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools Usage Policy
Agrofera: Agronomical Journal recognizes the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in scholarly writing and research. The journal aims to ensure transparency, accountability, and ethical use of AI technologies in the preparation and publication of manuscripts.
1. Permitted Use of AI Tools
Authors may use AI tools (e.g., for language editing, grammar checking, or improving readability) to assist in manuscript preparation, provided that such use does not compromise the originality and integrity of the work.
AI tools must not replace the authors’ intellectual contribution or scientific responsibility.
2. Disclosure Requirement
Authors are required to clearly disclose the use of AI tools in their manuscript.
Disclosure should be included in a separate section (e.g., Acknowledgments or Methods) stating:
- The name of the AI tool used
- The purpose of its use
Example:
“This manuscript was partially assisted by AI tools for language editing and clarity improvement.”
3. Prohibited Use of AI Tools
The following uses are not permitted:
- Generating scientific content, data, or results without verification
- Fabricating or manipulating data using AI
- Using AI tools to create misleading, false, or unethical content
- Listing AI tools as authors
4. Responsibility and Accountability
Authors remain fully responsible for:
- The accuracy and validity of all content
- Proper citation and avoidance of plagiarism
- Ensuring that AI-generated text does not contain errors or biases
AI tools cannot be held accountable and therefore cannot assume authorship or responsibility.
5. Editorial and Reviewer Use of AI
Editors and reviewers must:
- Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts
- Not upload manuscripts to AI tools that may compromise data security
- Use AI tools cautiously and ethically, if at all
6. Ethical Compliance
This policy aligns with recommendations from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and other international publishing standards.
7. Policy Enforcement
Failure to disclose AI usage or misuse of AI tools may result in:
- Rejection of the manuscript
- Retraction of published articles
- Notification to affiliated institutions
8. Policy Updates
This policy will be updated periodically to reflect developments in AI technologies and scholarly publishing standards.
