Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools Usage Policy

CONSERVARE: Journal of Agricultural Knowledge recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted tools can support various aspects of scholarly writing and publishing. The journal permits the responsible use of AI tools for tasks such as improving language, grammar, readability, formatting, or translation, provided that authors carefully review and verify all AI-assisted content. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and scientific validity of their manuscripts. The use of AI tools must not compromise research ethics, intellectual honesty, or the transparency of the scientific record.

AI-assisted tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot meet the requirements for authorship, including accountability for the content, approval of the final manuscript, and responsibility for responding to questions regarding the research. When AI tools have made a substantial contribution to manuscript preparation beyond routine language editing, authors must disclose their use in an appropriate section of the manuscript, specifying the name of the AI tool and describing how it was used. The Editorial Board may request additional information regarding the use of AI during the editorial process when necessary.

The journal strictly prohibits the use of AI tools for generating, fabricating, falsifying, or manipulating research data, images, figures, results, citations, peer-review reports, or any other scientific content that could misrepresent the research or compromise publication integrity. Editors and reviewers may use AI-assisted technologies only for limited administrative purposes that do not involve uploading confidential manuscript content to publicly accessible AI systems, and they remain responsible for maintaining confidentiality throughout the editorial and peer-review process. CONSERVARE: Journal of Agricultural Knowledge reserves the right to request clarification regarding AI use and to reject or retract manuscripts when the inappropriate or undisclosed use of AI is found to violate the journal's publication ethics or editorial policies.
