Publication Ethic
CONSERVARE: Journal of Agricultural Knowledge is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct throughout the publication process. This publication ethics statement applies to all parties involved in scholarly publishing, including the publisher, editors, reviewers, authors, and readers.
The journal adheres to the Core Practices and Ethical Guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and complies with the Regulation of the Head of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications in Indonesia. These principles promote three fundamental ethical values in scholarly publishing:
- Neutrality, ensuring editorial independence and freedom from conflicts of interest.
- Fairness, ensuring that authors receive proper recognition and equal treatment throughout the editorial process.
- Honesty, ensuring that publications are free from plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate publication, and other forms of scientific misconduct.
The journal is dedicated to safeguarding the integrity of the scholarly record by implementing a rigorous peer-review process, maintaining editorial transparency, and applying ethical standards consistently across all stages of publication.
Responsibilities of the Publisher
The publisher is responsible for supporting the editorial process while preserving editorial independence. The publisher shall:

- Protect intellectual property rights and copyright in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Promote ethical publishing practices and support investigations into allegations of publication misconduct.
- Publish corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions whenever necessary.
Responsibilities of Editors

- Evaluate manuscripts objectively without discrimination based on nationality, gender, ethnicity, religion, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs.
- Select qualified and independent reviewers with relevant expertise.
- Preserve the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts throughout the review process.
- Make publication decisions based on originality, scientific quality, methodological rigor, significance, and relevance to the journal's scope.

- Take appropriate action when ethical concerns, plagiarism, duplicate publication, image manipulation, authorship disputes, or research misconduct are suspected.
- Ensure that corrections, retractions, or editorial notices are issued when required to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Peer reviewers play an essential role in maintaining scientific quality. Reviewers are expected to:
- Conduct reviews objectively, constructively, and within the agreed timeframe.
- Treat all manuscripts as confidential documents.
- Provide evidence-based recommendations supported by scholarly arguments.
- Identify relevant published work that has not been cited.
- Alert editors to any indication of plagiarism, duplicate publication, ethical concerns, or substantial overlap with previously published research.
- Decline review assignments whenever conflicts of interest may compromise objectivity.
- Refrain from using unpublished information obtained through peer review for personal or professional advantage.
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors submitting manuscripts to CONSERVARE must ensure that:
- The submitted work is original and has not been published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere.
- Research is conducted ethically and reported accurately without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation.
- All listed authors have made substantial scholarly contributions to the work and have approved the final manuscript.
- Individuals who contributed but do not meet authorship criteria are appropriately acknowledged.
- Sources of funding and potential conflicts of interest are fully disclosed.
- Appropriate permissions have been obtained for copyrighted materials, datasets, figures, or photographs.
- Significant errors discovered after publication are promptly reported to the editors so that corrections or retractions may be issued when appropriate.
- Artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted tools, if used, are disclosed in accordance with the journal's AI Policy. AI tools may assist language editing or manuscript preparation but cannot be listed as authors and do not assume responsibility for the published work.
Research Integrity
Authors are expected to conduct research in accordance with internationally accepted ethical standards. Where applicable, manuscripts involving human participants, animals, biological materials, or sensitive environmental resources must include statements regarding ethical approval, informed consent, research permits, or institutional review board approval.
Data should be retained for a reasonable period after publication and made available upon reasonable request when consistent with ethical, legal, or confidentiality requirements.
Plagiarism and Similarity Screening
All submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening using similarity detection software before peer review. Manuscripts containing plagiarism, excessive textual overlap, duplicate publication, manipulated citations, fabricated data, falsified results, or other forms of publication misconduct will be rejected. If misconduct is identified after publication, the journal will take appropriate corrective actions, including issuing corrections or retracting the article.
Conflicts of Interest
Editors, reviewers, and authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the objectivity of the publication process. Individuals with unresolved conflicts of interest may be excluded from editorial or review responsibilities.
Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern
When errors or ethical issues are identified after publication, the journal will act promptly to preserve the integrity of the scientific record. Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, the journal may publish:
- Corrections (Errata or Corrigenda),
- Expressions of Concern,
- Retractions, or

Complaints regarding editorial processes, peer review, or publication ethics are handled confidentially and fairly in accordance with COPE recommendations.
Ethical Oversight
The Editorial Board continuously monitors compliance with publication ethics and reserves the right to investigate allegations of misconduct before or after publication. Decisions regarding ethical issues are guided by COPE Core Practices, the COPE flowcharts, and the Indonesian Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications to ensure transparency, accountability, and fairness in scholarly communication.
