Analisis Sosial Ekonomi Petani Cengkeh dalam Penerapan Sistem Ijon di Kabupaten Buru Selatan

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the socio-economic conditions of clove farmers and the application of the ijon system in farming activities in Neath Village, Leksula District, South Buru Regency. The ijon system is a practice of buying and selling agricultural products before harvest which is generally carried out by farmers as a solution to capital limitations and urgent economic needs. The research method used is a quantitative descriptive approach with survey techniques on clove farmers. The results of the study show that most clove farmers are in lower-middle economic conditions with relatively low levels of education and limited access to formal financial institutions. The implementation of the ijon system provides easy access to short-term financing, but has an impact on the low selling price of crops received by farmers. This causes farmers to suffer economic losses and increase dependence on middlemen. Thus, the ijon system, although helpful in the short term, has the potential to reduce the welfare of clove farmers in the long term
