Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools Usage Policy

RUMPHII: Biological Science Journal recognizes the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted technologies in scholarly research and publishing. The journal supports the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of AI tools while emphasizing that authors remain fully accountable for the accuracy, integrity, originality, and scientific validity of their manuscripts.

Authors may use AI-assisted tools to improve language, grammar, readability, formatting, or to assist with data analysis, coding, visualization, or literature organization. However, AI tools must not replace the authors' intellectual contributions, critical judgment, or responsibility for the content of the manuscript. Authors are expected to carefully review and verify all AI-generated or AI-assisted content before submission to ensure its accuracy and appropriateness.

If AI tools have been used in the preparation of a manuscript in a manner that has materially contributed to the work (beyond routine spelling or grammar correction), authors should disclose this use in an appropriate section of the manuscript, such as the Acknowledgements, Methods, or a separate Declaration of AI Use, depending on the nature of the assistance. The disclosure should identify the AI tool used, its version (if applicable), and describe how it contributed to the manuscript.

Artificial intelligence tools, including generative AI systems such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or similar technologies, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the work, approve the final manuscript, disclose conflicts of interest, or fulfill the authorship criteria established by recognized publishing standards.

Authors must not use AI tools to fabricate, falsify, manipulate, or misrepresent research data, images, references, peer-review reports, or any other aspect of the scientific record. The submission of AI-generated content that contains fabricated information, inaccurate citations, or misleading statements constitutes a breach of publication ethics and may result in rejection, retraction, or other editorial actions.

Editors and reviewers may use AI-assisted technologies only for limited administrative purposes, such as improving language or organizing comments, provided that manuscript confidentiality is strictly maintained. Editors and reviewers must not upload confidential manuscript content or personal data into publicly accessible AI systems that do not guarantee data security and confidentiality.

The Editorial Office reserves the right to request additional information regarding the use of AI tools during manuscript preparation. Failure to disclose significant AI assistance or misuse of AI technologies may be considered a violation of the journal's publication ethics policy.

RUMPHII: Biological Science Journal will continue to monitor developments in AI technologies and may update this policy as international standards and best practices evolve.
