Publication Ethic
RUMPHII: Biological Science Journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in scholarly publishing. The journal adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices and complies with the Regulation of the Head of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications in Indonesia. These principles guide all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher, to ensure that published research is conducted and communicated responsibly.
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are expected to submit original and unpublished work that is not under consideration by another journal. All data presented in the manuscript must be accurate, honestly reported, and supported by appropriate evidence. Fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate publication, and other forms of research misconduct are strictly prohibited.
Authors must ensure that all individuals listed as authors have made substantial contributions to the research and have approved the final version of the manuscript. Proper acknowledgment should be given to individuals or organizations that contributed to the work but do not meet the criteria for authorship. Authors are also responsible for disclosing any financial support, conflicts of interest, or other circumstances that could influence the interpretation of their findings.
Research involving humans, animals, or sensitive biological materials must comply with applicable ethical regulations and receive approval from the appropriate ethics committee or institutional review board before the study is conducted. Evidence of ethical approval may be requested during the editorial process.
If authors discover a significant error in a published article, they are obligated to promptly notify the editorial office and cooperate in issuing a correction, retraction, or other appropriate action.
Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based solely on the manuscript's scientific merit, originality, methodological quality, clarity, and relevance to the journal's scope. Editorial decisions must be free from discrimination based on nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs.
Editors shall maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not disclose information about a submission to anyone other than those directly involved in the editorial and peer-review process. Editors must also avoid conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have competing interests.
When ethical concerns arise, editors will investigate allegations fairly and transparently in accordance with COPE guidelines. Appropriate actions may include requesting revisions, issuing corrections, publishing expressions of concern, retracting articles, or notifying relevant institutions when necessary.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers play an essential role in maintaining the quality and credibility of published research. They are expected to provide objective, constructive, timely, and evidence-based evaluations that assist editors in making publication decisions and help authors improve their manuscripts.
Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents and must not use unpublished information for personal advantage. Any reviewer who identifies a conflict of interest or lacks sufficient expertise should decline the review invitation.
Reviewers are encouraged to identify relevant published work that has not been cited and to alert editors to any substantial similarity between the submitted manuscript and other published or submitted works of which they are aware.
Responsibilities of the Publisher
The publisher supports the editorial team in maintaining ethical publishing standards and editorial independence. Commercial considerations shall not influence editorial decisions. The publisher is committed to preserving the integrity of the scholarly record by supporting investigations into suspected misconduct and implementing corrections, retractions, or other editorial actions when necessary.
The publisher also promotes responsible research dissemination, long-term accessibility of published articles, and compliance with international standards of scholarly communication.
Ethical Oversight and Research Integrity
RUMPHII: Biological Science Journal is committed to preventing publication malpractice through rigorous editorial screening, plagiarism detection, and independent peer review. Allegations of research misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, inappropriate authorship, citation manipulation, duplicate publication, and unethical research practices, will be investigated following the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applicable Indonesian regulations.
When misconduct is confirmed, the journal may reject the manuscript, retract the published article, publish corrections or expressions of concern, notify the authors' institutions or funding agencies, and take other appropriate actions to protect the integrity of the scientific record.
By submitting a manuscript to RUMPHII: Biological Science Journal, authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher agree to uphold these ethical principles and contribute to responsible, transparent, and trustworthy scientific publishing.
